Fred Ruder's Obituary
Fred A. Ruder, Sr., 81, of LaGrange, died on Monday evening at EMH Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
Mr. Ruder was born in Sheffield Township and had lived in LaGrange the past16 years. He also had lived in Penfield Township; where he had built his own home.
He served his country in the US Air Force during WW II..
He worked as a machinist/grinder and retired from the Lear Romec Corp., Elyria, in 1987.
Mr. Ruder operated the Dock Delivery Service; with his son, in the late 1960's and early 1970's; along with owning and operating 3 local gas stations and a water hauling service in LaGrange.
Fred was a very creative person and held several patents for his inventions; including a fire escape slide and lawn mower attachment.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and helping others.
He was a life member of the AMVETS Post # 32, a member of the VFW Post # 1079 and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wilma (nee Berner); sons, Fred, Jr. (Sharon), of Elyria and Ted (Sharon) of Abington, IL; daughter, Theresa (David, Sr.) Knarr, of Elyria; grandchildren, David Knarr, Jr., of Mentor on the Lake, Heather Mowinski, of Columbia Station and Tristan Knarr, of N. Royalton; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Theodore Ruder, of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Elinor Maxwell of TN .
He is preceded in death by his son Dennis Allan Ruder in 1983; parents Alfred and Esther (nee Haynes) Ruder.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June the 26th from 6-8 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 366255 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville; where funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, with military honors.
