Fred R. Parsh's Obituary
Fred R. Parsh, age 81, of Grafton, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born on May 27, 1940 in Cleveland and has been a resident of Grafton for the past 45 years, moving from Berea. Fred received his bachelor’s, and went on to earn his Master’s degree at Kent State University. He worked as a junior high school teacher of history and social studies in the Berea City School District. During that time he also did roofing on the weekends. He retired from teaching in 1992 after 30 years of service. After retirement he went to work at the J.V.S. as a job recruiter, assisting students in finding employment.
In his free time, Fred enjoyed farming and was an avid reader. He was very active in his church. His greatest love was singing in his church’s choir. He was a lover of all sports, especially the Cleveland Teams. He was a member of a bowling league, enjoyed golfing and had been a softball and summer baseball coach. Music was an important part of Fred’s life, and he played the guitar and banjo. Of all these things, one of the things Fred enjoyed most was traveling with his wife Barbara, which they did extensively.
Fred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara (nee Zirnfus); children Rob (Patti) Parsh of Grafton, Janeane (Eric) Prechtl of Grafton, Suzanne (James) O’Connor of Jefferson and Randy (Cathie) Parsh of Elyria; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Carol (Jim) Watson, Sally (Nick) Gerome and Joan Parsh; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Helen (nee Andryc) Parsh.
Memorial Service will take place at the LaGrange United Methodist Church, 105 W. Main Street, Lagrange, Ohio 44050, on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Floyd Costello will officiate. Interment will be private.
