Franklin D. "Dee" Dawson's Obituary
Franklin D. (“Dee”) Dawson, age 80, of Grafton, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at University Hospital EMH Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on March 13, 1934 in Big Vein, VA and has lived in Grafton since 2004, moving from Lagrange and North Ridgeville. Franklin was a U.S. Army Veteran and went on to work in shipping and receiving at the Brook Park Ford Plant, retiring in 1995 after 38 years of service. He was a former member of the North Ridgeville Church of God where he was part of the Senior Fellowship Group serving as co-vice president with his wife Eunice in 1995, and was an active member of the Lagrange Church of God. To the children of the church, he was known as the “Candy Man,” never without his bag of suckers he would pass out to them.
Franklin enjoyed watching Westerns, walking the mall, spending Saturdays “bumming” around at flea markets and garage sales. He enjoyed fishing with his church buddies and was known for his Christian design baseball caps.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eunice (nee Bowles); son Michael (Seham) Dawson of North Ridgeville; daughters Teri (Kim) Williams of North Carolina and Cindy (Ron) Fadenholz of Lagrange; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Rosa (nee Thomas) Dawson; 5 sisters; 9 brothers.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Danny Wright will officiate. Interment with Full Military Honors by V.F.W. Post 9871, N. Ridgeville, will be at River Road Cemetery, Lagrange.
