Frank Peter Zemanek's Obituary
Frank Peter Zemanek, age 86, of North Ridgeville passed away Friday September 4, 2015 at his home following a long illness.
He was born September 13, 1928 in Lorain and had resided in North Ridgeville most of his life.
Mr. Zemanek served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a life member of AMVETS Post 47, Lorain.
With his wife and family he operated the Zemanek Greenhouse for 48 years at their home in North Ridgeville. He also worked as a machinist and foreman for Poly One in Avon Lake, formerly BF Goodrich, retiring in 1998 after 38 years.
A very active member of St. Peter Church where he was in charge of the parish fish fry’s for 10 years, he was involved in the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 7970, and Cursillo Number 24 at St. Mary’s, Elyria in 1963. He also enjoyed Polka Dancing, Playing Bingo, watching the Cleveland Indians and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy (nee Jocke), five sons, Paul (Cathy) of Dublin, Jim (Marilyn) of Highland Hts., Ray (Rita) of North Royalton, Phil (Dory) of Brunswick, Vince (Elaine) of LaGrange; daughters, Linda (Ed) Schuster of Elyria and Julie (Timothy) Green of North Ridgeville; 20 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brother Vic(Dolly) Zemanek of Oglesby, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Augusta(nee Kral) Zemanek and 6 brothers, Joe, Luke, Steve, Tony, Edward and Mike Zemanek.
The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30AM followed by a 10AM Mass at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd. Rev. Robert Franco, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Following the Mass, Military Honors will be conducted by the US Navy Honor Guard.
Private burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery at a later date.
