Frank "Merv" Whalen's Obituary
Frank Mervin Whalen, age 79, of North Ridgeville, passed away at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph on Thursday, October 25, 2012 following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Mt. Sterling, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 65 years.
Frank served in the US Marines during the Korean War.
He worked as a forklift operator for York International for many years, retiring in 1999.
At one time, he was a drummer with the Fugitives Band. He also enjoyed attending Classic Car shows and Cruise-Ins, golf, bowling and spending time with his wife.
He was a member of the VFW Post in Elyria.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara; brothers, Donald, Duane and Randall (Triva) Whalen all of Clearwater, Florida; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Edith Whalen; sisters, Frances Brady, Jeannie Weaver and Roberta Whalen; brothers, Jesse and James Whalen.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 Pm at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Monday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
