Frank Furfari's Obituary
Frank Furfari, age 95, of North Ridgeville, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Southwest General Hospice, following a long illness.
He was born in Garfield, New Jersey and grew up in Italy. He had spent the last 27 years in North Ridgeville after moving from Fairview, where he resided for 30 years.
He served in the Italian Army during WWII and was a POW in Germany for 2 years, until he escaped.
While living in Italy, he worked in construction. After moving to Ohio he worked in textiles and retail industries at Joseph and Feiss and Federal Department Stores.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville.
He had a green thumb and loved gardening, going for walks, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Survivors include daughters, Antoinette (Mike) Malinas of North Ridgeville, Ida (Len) Polash of Columbia Twp., Elaine Furfari of North Ridgeville; son, Frank (Monica) Furfari Jr. of Strongsville; grandchildren, Michael, David, Christina, Francesca, Gabriella, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Julia, Lauren, Madeline, Sofia and Carson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmela in 2006; daughter, Caterina Furfari; son, Domenico Furfari; parents, Domenico and Caterina (nee Princi) Furfari; a sister and 4 brothers.
Friends may call Monday from 4-8PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be on Tuesday at 9:30AM followed by a 10:00AM Mass at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brookpark.
Memorials contributions may be made to the St. Peter Memorial Fund c/o St. Peter Church.
