Francis Edward Kenneth Halagan's Obituary
Francis Edward Kenneth Halagan , 92, entered peacefully into eternal rest on April 20th, 2023. He was born January 2, 1931 in Cleveland Ohio, later moving to the family farm in North Ridgeville Ohio in 1940.
After graduating from high school, he worked for the Chronicle Telegram until he enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. He proudly served from 1951 -1952 in the Korean War crash crew, then returned stateside to serve in the Air Force Medical Corp finishing in the pharmacy department until 1954.
He then returned to the Chronicle for 2 more years before determining his life's work to be a pharmacist and entered the University of Toledo for 4 years to graduate in 1962 with a pharmacy degree. He then served as a local pharmacist for 33 years before retiring.
Francis loved to be golfing, bowling, gardening, hunting and traveling visiting most of the 50 states. He was a lifelong fan of the Brown's football and Indian's baseball teams.
He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, where he later served as an usher, and a proud member of the Holy Name Society, a charter member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, the West Shore Pharmaceutical Association , member of the Lorain County Pharmaceutical Association and former member of the Ohio Pharmaceutical Association. From 1971 to 1975 he was a Board member of the North Ridgeville City schools .
He was a charter member of the VFW Post 9871 for 57 years, Quartermaster for 24 years and Trustee for 6 years.
Francis is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marian, his sons Robert, (Jodi), Kenneth (Nancy) and Gregory (Robin) Halagan. His daughters Michele and Catherine Halagan. Nine grandchildren , Joshua (Kim), Jennifer, Makayla (Matt), Alicia (Matt), Meghan, Alexander, Emily, Madelyne and Madison. And 3 great grandchildren, Laney, Riley and Colton. His sister-in-law Mary Jane (Larry) Horn and many nieces and nephews, and loyal granddog and companion, Lucy.
He is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Anna Halagan, brother Rudolph (Rita) Halagan and granddaughter, Sara.
Friends may call Monday from 4-7PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 10AM followed by a 10:30AM Mass at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road. Fr. Bob Franco, Pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville.
