Frances "Penny" Milbrandt's Obituary
Frances Marie “Penny” Milbrandt (nee Gilgenbach), age 76, of Columbia Station entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Villa Camillus Nursing Home. She was born in Elyria and had resided in Columbia Station since 1987, moving from North Ridgeville. She graduated from North Ridgeville High School in 1959. During her working career she performed a variety of jobs and retired as an activities assistant from Center Ridge Nursing Home in North Ridgeville. In her younger years she enjoyed sewing, especially constructing Infant of Prague Statue investments adorned with lace and intricate beading. She was an excellent house keeper and loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed singing and playing the organ. She was a member of the choir for St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville and also sung in other church choirs in the surrounding area. Penny and Jim liked to entertain at their home, travel to listen to polka bands and dance and attended multiple county fairs each year.
Survivors include sisters, Joyce Smith of Athens, Georgia and Carol (Tim Barnes) Gilgenbach of Elyria; brother, John Gilgenbach of Elyria; step-sons, Mike (Audra) Milbrandt of Eaton Twp., John Milbrandt of Tampa, Florida; step-daughters, Nancy (Gene) Whitaker of Indianapolis, Indiana, Connie Ruben of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James this past March; parents, Bernard “Butch” and Frances (nee Holtwick) Gilgenbach.
Friends may call Sunday, May 20 from 2-4PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held on Monday, May 21 at 9:30AM followed by a 10AM Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd. Rev. Bob Franco, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Avon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Absolute Hospice Foundation, 339 E. Maple St., N. Canton, OH 44720 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
