Frances Mary Edwards' Obituary
Frances Mary Edwards, age 101, of Elyria, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at her home. She was born in East Aurora, New York and had been a resident of Elyria for the past 20 years, moving from North Ridgeville where she lived for 40 years. Frances worked as a registered nurse for Holly Terrace Nursing Home for 20 years. She was a member of St. Peter Church in North Ridgeville. She helped to start Birthright in 1973 where she was the director for 12 years and volunteer for 46 years. She also helped with the start of Al Anon in the Cleveland area. She was involved with the Cursillo Group, St. Peter’s Mother’s Club, Legion of Mary and the Bob Edwards Couples Group. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, canning and being with her great friends and neighbors. Survivors include her children, Mary Jean Sherwood of Elyria, Robert (Lois) Edwards of Elyria, Tom (Mindy) Edwards of Sandusky, Susan (Joseph) Whitely of Elyria; grandchildren Cynthia Marquitz, Elizabeth (Paul) Post, Erin (Dave) Stehman, Megan (Jeremiah) Lamb, Mary (Dr. Nick) Niemiec, Trisha (Ken) Collins, Nathan (Brad) Edwards, Chad (Kaitlyn) Edwards, Amy Edwards, Joseph (Shannon) Whitely, Joshua (Megan) Whitely, Steven Whitely, Maria (Cory) McCormick and Matthew (Roxanna) Whitely; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Clara Ann; son-in-law, George Sherwood; infant granddaughter, Connie Marie; parents, Henry and Clara Mackert; brother, Justin Mackert. Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville on Sunday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and on Monday for a 9:30 a.m. Prayer Service preceding a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.
