Mrs. Evelyn M Coon's Obituary
EVELYN M COON, age 91 of North Ridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. She was born on November 27, 1934 in Lorain and spent the last many years here in North Ridgeville after moving from Avon.
Evelyn worked as a cook many years ago at the old Elzona Restaurant before finishing her career as a lunch helper at North Ridgevile High School. She enjoyed a variety of things right up to the end of her life; one of which was what is now the nearly-lost art of crocheting. She loved to cook for her family and beef stroganoff was a favorite of those for whom she loved. She traveled to many places – by bus to Amish Country with the Seniors, by cruise ship to Alaska and the Carribbean. Evelyn did volunteer work for hospice and also belonged to St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville.
Evelyn is survived by her children Thomas Coon (Michelle) and Kathleen Smith (Michael); her sister Eleanor Reith; 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She is preceeded in death by her husband William Coon of 50 years and her parents, Bernard and Mary Schmetzer.
FRIENDS MAY CALL AT BOGNER FAMILY FUNERAL HOOME, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, on Monday, June 1, from 10 AM until the time of funeral service at 11 AM where Fr. Isadore will lead. Evelyn will be laid to rest alongside her husband of 50 years at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Avon, immediately following the funeral service.
