Eugene Machovina's Obituary
Eugene J. Machovina Sr., age 74 of Elyria, died Friday, March 4, 2005 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a long illness.
He was born March 20, 1930 in Elyria. He had lived in Elyria since 1956 moving from North Ridgeville.
Mr. Machovina served in the US Army during the Korean War
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria, where served as a Eucharistic minister, The Knights of St. John, American Legion, Elyria, and the Elyria Loyal Order of the Moose.
He worked as a Supervisor for Columbia Gas Company in Elyria for 20 years; from 1957-1977. He then worked as a delivery person for Reasor Florist, of Elyria.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, doing arts and crafts, playing cards and bowling in the Knights of St. John Bowling League.
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. (Nee Mozak) 3 Sons, Eugene Jr. of Columbus, Frank and Philip both of Elyria; 6 daughters, Ann Loepp of Elyria, Marie Storrow of Wellington, Pauline Phillips of Wellington, Patricia Nickolette of Elyria, Irene Streets of Elyria; Amherst, Christine Hartle of South Amherst; twenty grandchildren; 2 brothers, Alfred of Grafton, and Bernard Machovina of Elyria; Sister, Mary Onderko of Elyria and several nieces and nephews..
He was preceded in death by Parents, Ralph and Gertrude (nee Stauder) Machovina, sister Jeanette Holtwick and three brothers, Robert, Charles and Ralph Machovina.
The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday followed 11:00 AM Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Reverend Patrick Shields will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
