Eugene Kelley's Obituary
Eugene Joseph Kelley age 88 of Elyria, died Monday at Community Health Partners, Lorain following a brief illness.
He was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of North Eaton for 50 years before moving to Elyria in 1998.
Mr. Kelley was a graduate of N. Eaton High School, and was employed as a carpenter with Union Local 305 in Elyria for over 50 years, serving as president for 6 years. Also, he was a member of Lake Erie District and AFL-CIO Council of Carpenters Union.
He was a life long member of St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter Holy Name Society, President of Catholic Sunshine club, Master at North Eaton Grange and a member of Pomona Grange #79.
Hobbies included fishing, bowling, gardening, horseshoes, card playing and story telling.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of 64 years, two sons; Dennis of Kansas, Ohio and Timothy of Vermilion, Ohio. Seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. A brother Patrick of Clinton, Arkansas, three sisters; Kathryn Smith of Elyria, Carol Brownlow of Prescott, Ariz. and Donna Parker of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by son Rolland and two sisters; Phyllis Haney, Virginia Bowe and brother Jerome.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 at David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge road, North Ridgeville. Services Friday with 9:30am prayers at the funeral home followed by a Mass at 10:00am in St. Peter Catholic Church 35777 Center Ridge road, N. Ridgeville. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery N. Ridgeville.
