Eugene Haponek's Obituary
Eugene S. Haponek, age 86, of North Ridgeville, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at his home following a long illness.
Born in Lorain, he had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 12 years.
Eugene served in the US Army during WWII.
He worked as a millwright for US Steel Lorain Works for 34 years, retiring in 1986.
He attended St. Frances Cabrini Parish (formerly St. John the Baptist) in Lorain.
His hobbies included building scale models of ships and airplanes including one of the Edmund Fitzgerald; woodworking and astronomy.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mildred (nee Prosenko); sons, Eugene "Ken" (Patricia) Haponek of Lorain, Dane A. Haponek of North Ridgeville, Glen Haponek of Warner Robins, Georgia; daughter, Jean A. (Rob) Neuhart of Huber Hts.; grandchildren, Michelle Barbosa, Nicole, Kenneth and James Haponek, Anthony Neuhart; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Noah Barbosa, Dante, Ezra, Kane and Olivia Haponek, Marco Aponte; brother, Emil Haponek of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Antonia (nee Sally) and brother, Walter Haponek.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Funeral services will take place 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Reverend Curtis Kondik, Pastor will officiate.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
