Eugene A. Diederich's Obituary
Eugene Aurelius Diederich, age 89, entered into eternal life Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Abbey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in St. Petersburgh, Florida. He joins his wife Zoe Ann (nee Schremp) who passed April 4, 2016.
Eugene was a lifelong resident of North Ridgeville; Zoe Ann was born in Lorain and had resided in North Ridgeville since marrying Eugene on January 25, 1964. They enjoyed spending their winters in Sun City Center, Florida for the past 20 years.
They were members of St. Peter Church in North Ridgeville and Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center.
A Veteran, Eugene served his country during WW II in the US Army. He then went on to serve his community as a Fireman for 40 years, as Fire Chief from 1981 until retiring in 1989.
Eugene enjoyed restoring Fire Trucks, Fishing and was active in his Home Owners Association in Florida, serving as President for several years.
Zoe Ann earned her Associate Degree from the Oberlin School of Commerce and worked as a By Products Clerk for US Steel in Lorain for 15 years.
Survivors include their daughter Beth Ann Diederich, of North Ridgeville, his four sisters, Loyola Diederich of North Ridgeville, Natalie (John) Smith of Grafton, Martha Diederich of Cornwall on Hudson, NY and Patricia Brady of Hillman, MI. and several nieces and nephews.
They are preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Helen (nee Jurisin) Schremp, his parents, Audoen and Aurelia Diederich, and his brothers Raymond and Robert “Rup” Diederich.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM to honor and celebrate the life of Eugene and Zoe at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors.
