Ervin L. Pullen's Obituary
Ervin L. Pullen, age 74, of Elyria, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Life Care Center of Elyria.
He was born in Bangor, Maine and had been a resident of Elyria since 1968.
Ervin served in the US Navy on the USS Independence during the Vietnam War. After getting out of the service he went to work at American Ship Building in Lorain as an Electrician. He later worked with IBEW Local 129 before moving to Philadelphia to work in the Naval Ship Yards in the 1980’s. After moving back to Elyria, he worked for Cleveland Plastic Films for 13 years, as an electrician in the maintenance department. Later in his career he owned and operated Western Reserve Electric Inc. until retiring in 2007.
He was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Elyria, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and formerly active with RCIA and was a lifelong member of Elyria VFW Post 1079.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, animals, visiting Maine and especially liked covered bridges.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Rita (nee Diederich); children, Cheryl (Dave) Navalinsky of Durham, North Carolina, Michael (Shannon) Pullen of Portland, Oregon, Deborah (Allen) Redmon of Medina, Sandra (Kevin) Patton of Brunswick, David (Victoria) Pullen of Ann Arbor, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; Kya-his beloved pet and many others who considered him as a “father” figure throughout his lifetime; sister, Ann (Richard) Watson and brother, Robert (Doreen) Pullen both of Levant, Maine; 11 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lemont and Dorothy (nee Robison) Pullen; infant sister, Patricia Pullen.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. A Prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Friday in the funeral home followed by 10 AM Mass at St. Jude Catholic Church
Reverend Frank Kosem, Pastor will be the celebrant. .
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, where Elyria VFW Post 1079 will conduct full military honors.
