Emory Dummitt's Obituary
Emory E. Dummitt, age 86, of Edgewater, FL, died Sunday morning in Florida following a long illness.
He was born in Stricklett, KY and had been an Elyria resident from 1952-1992; before moving to Florida. He had also lived in Norwalk, OH for a few years.
He had served in the United States Army during WW II and the Korean conflict. He was awarded the Bronze Star of Valor.
He had worked twenty-five years as a maintenance foreman for the Kasper Foundry of Elyria.
Mr. Dummitt was very active in the Salvation Army of Elyria and Norwalk, OH and in DeLand and Edgewater, FL.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Akers, of Leesburg, FL; sons, Gene (Betty) Dummitt, Of Louisville, KY, Ray (Sharon) Dummitt, of Conway, SC, Bill (Susan) Dummitt, of Oberlin, OH and Rodney (Rebecca) Dummitt, of Avon, OH; fourteen grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special care giver, Shirley Chambers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes (nee Armstrong); parents, William S. And Sarah (nee Swim) Dummitt; sisters, Nola Skaggs and Viola Holland; brother, Roy Dummitt.
Friends may call on Friday from 10-11 AM at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Road, Avon, OH. A memorial service will follow at the New Hope Lighthouse Church, 40180 Parsons, Lagrange, OH. US Army Chaplain Dean Akers will officiate. the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army, 55 Whittlesey, Norwalk, OH 44857.
