Emmett Black's Obituary
Emmett Black, age 81 of North Ridgeville passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at St. John Westshore Hospital, Westlake following a lengthy illness. He was born in Adrian, WV and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 41 years. He had been employed as a towmotor operator for Ford Motor Co. for 25 years retiring in 1980. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had served in the 5th Infantry Division Headquarters Company during WW II. He was quite a history buff and enjoyed reading, going to flea markets and spending time with his grandsons. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Calcie (nee Holbrook), sons, Jeff of North Ridgeville and Emmett Wayne of San Diego, CA, a daughter, Bonita (Rick) Cortez of North Ridgeville, grandsons, Steven and Alex Cortez, a brother, Garland Black of Brunswick, sisters, Lucille Loudin of Newark, OH, Naomi Spears of Parkersburg, WV, Iola Tenney of Pittsburgh, Carol Sue Tolliver of Sissonsville, WV and Dee Dee Briggs of Ellerbe, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Loyd Black and by brothers, Tommy, Zane and Roger Black. Friends will be received from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, October 26, 2008 in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where funeral services will be held Monday, October 27 at 10:30 A.M. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridgeville Cemetery.
