Emil J. Hronek's Obituary
Emil J. Hronek, age 74, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday, June 20th at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born on March 10, 1942 in Cleveland and has lived in North Ridgeville for the past 3 years, moving from Garfield Heights.
Emil served in the Army National Guard, went on to work for Brinks, retiring as a supervisor in 2007 after 38 years of service, and also worked for the City of Garfield Heights as an auxiliary policeman and jailer for 20 years. He was a member of St. Julie Billiart Church, the American Legion, Post 717, North Ridgeville, the N.R.A., S.A.S.S. (Single Action Shooting Sports) and the Czech Catholic Union.
He was a great story teller, a man who cherished God, his family and the outdoors. Emil was very knowledgeable about firearms and served as an instructor for many years. He enjoyed camping with his family, fishing, old cowboy movies and Cleveland sports.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley (nee Folga); daughters Christine (Ivan) Liggett of Columbia Station and Karen (Dan) Thomas of Medina; granddaughters Kellie Carroccio of Garfield Heights and Lisa Carroccio of Hinckley; great grandson Dominick who is due in September, 2016; sister Claire Hunek of Brook Park; many nieces and nephews.
Emil was preceded in death by his parents Emil E. and Mae (nee Souhrada) Hronek and sister Bernie Zablotny.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday at 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service preceding a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. George Vrabel will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
