Elizabeth Sumney's Obituary
Elizabeth M. "Betty" Sumney (nee Muller), age 76 of Elyria, died Monday, July 7, 2008 at Westlake Healthcare Center following a long illness.
She was born November 10, 1931 in Bellevue, PA. She had resided in Elyria the past 29 years after moving from North Ridgeville.
She graduated from East Washington High School in Washington, PA and Grace Martin Secretarial School in Pittsburgh, PA.
Mrs. Sumney was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Elyria where she had taught Sunday School. She also volunteered with the Girl Scouts and PTA.
Mrs. Sumney worked in the Treasurer's Office of North Ridgeville City Schools for over 26 years, retiring in 1996.
Surviving are 5 daughters, Lisa Marchman of Clyde, OH, Deborah Sherman of N. Olmsted, Kathleen Huy of Vermilion, Barbara Cacy of Phoenix Arizona and Sarah Rzaca Elyria; 2 Sons, Michael Sumney of Apex, NC and John Sumney of Cincinnati, OH; twenty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and one brother, William Muller of Fletcher, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothea (nee Mitchell) Muller; brother, Joseph Muller and sister, Kathryn Sholes.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd, N. Ridgeville, OH, where a funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday. Rev. Dr. Elaine McCoy, Interim Rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will officiate. Interment will be 2 PM Friday at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, North Olmsted.
