Elizabeth M Noland's Obituary
Elizabeth M. “Betty” Noland (nee Maines) age 91, (aka The Bread Lady) passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Main Street Care Center, in Avon Lake. She has been a long-time resident of North Ridgeville, coming from Elyria in 1956. She was an assembler for Western Enterprises in Westlake for several years. She also owned and operated Noland Home Bakery for 15 years, specializing in pecan-cinnamon rolls, bread and Christmas cookies, where she retired in 1981. During WWII she worked as a clerk for the FBI in Washington D.C., then after the war went to work for Mid Continental Airlines in Kansas City, where she met her husband Bob. She was a member of 1st Congregational United Church of Christ in North Ridgeville, and a member of the Church Ladies Evening Society. She also served on the Church Outreach Board, and Church Christian Education Board. She is a former Cub Scout Den Mother; in addition to baking, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, painting water colors, landscapes, barns, slate tiles and other mediums, camping, traveling, gardening, canning vegetables, Jams and Jellies from her garden and wild berries she picked. She was hard working and a creative nature lover She is survived by her sons Thomas L. (Carol) Noland of Sault St. Marie, Ontario, Robert K. (Ruth) Noland of Chardon, and James W. (Renee Tandoo) Noland of Elyria; grandsons Cody, Eric, and Patrick Noland, sister Doris Kilburn of Fairport, NY. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2007; father Andrew Maines; mother Emma (nee Bergey) Maines; daughter Kathleen A. Noland; brothers David, Andrew, and Leslie Maines; sister, Beatrice Maney.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 8, 2018 from 4-7 PM at The Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd, North Ridgeville. Services will be held at 10AM Saturday, June 9 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 36363 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Pastor Arik Borstad will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon OH. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Congregational United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
