Eileen Simmons' Obituary
Eileen E. Simmons (nee Baker), 81, of Eaton Township, lost her courageous battle with a prolonged illness and went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday in Grover, N.C.
Born on July 17, 1929 in Cleveland to Russell and Helen Baker. Eileen married her sweetheart Howard and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage together. She enjoyed spending time with her family, relatives and church friends from North Eaton Baptist Church, where she had been an active member for over 50 years. Some her favorite hobbies were sewing, embroidering, cooking and making quilts.
Eileen is survived by sons, David (Bonnie) of Lorain, Russell of Pee Wee Valley, KY, and Douglas (Debbie) of Grafton; daughters, Darlene Wray of Grover, N.C., and Sheila of Eaton Township; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Ed) Fox of Medina, brother-in-laws, Orval Conley of Elyria and Stan Thorpe of Florida; sister-in-law, Marge Baker of North Ridgeville.
Preceded in death by her husband Howard; parents, Russell and Helen Baker (nee Burgung); son, Andrew; granddaughter, Joanna; great granddaughter Morgan; brother, Russell, Robert (Cookie) Dean; sisters, Helen Sherman, Barbara (Skip) Fertig, Jean Conley; step-father, Fran Henry.
Friends will be received at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville on Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM. Funeral Service will be held at North Eaton Baptist Church, 12109 S. Reed Rd., N. Eaton, Ohio, on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11 AM. Reverend Stephen Carter will officiate. Interment Butternut Ridge Cemetery.
