Edwin Wise's Obituary
Edwin J. Wise, age 91, of North Ridgeville, died Sunday March 15, 2009 at Lutheran Hospital, Cleveland following a long illness. .
Mr. Wise was born in Berea, and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for over sixty years.
He had been employed as a machinist for Bendix-Westinghouse, Elyria for over thirty-five years, retiring in 1982.
He was a US Army Veteran who served during WWII, and received a Purple Heart.
Mr. Wise was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, North Ridgeville, the North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871, the American Polish Club, Elyria, the American Legion, Elyria, and was a ham radio operator who operated under the name WA8AIZ.
Surviving is his wife of sixty-two years, Jane (nee Wilhelmy) ;three daughters, Kathy Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ, Mona Payton (Frederick) of New York City and Renee Vollrath (William) of Downers Grove, IL; two grandchildren, Kristen and Adam Vollrath.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice Wysogorski; sister, Margaret Ligotke and brothers, Stanley and Leonard Wise.
Family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held on Thursday at 9:30AM followed by a 10:00AM Mass at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Stephen Kaminski, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, North Ridgeville where the VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors.
