Edward Vitalie's Obituary
Edward F. Vitalie, age 76, of Elyria, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the New Life Hospice Residence in Lorain. He was born March 23, 1936 in Johnstown, PA to the late Anthony and Evelyn (nee Rhoades) Vitalie. He married Rosaline A. Monteleone July 15, 1958 and she lovingly survives.
Also surviving is his daughter, Rosemarie (Ronald) Newbraugh, Elyria; grandchildren, Michael, Nicole and Christine; five great grandchildren; brother, James (Loretta) Vitalie, Charleston, South Carolina; and sisters, Roseann Cale, Kayann (Thomas) Swanhart and Helen Dell, all of Johnstown.
He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lucy Rose Monteleone and brothers-in-law, Jack Cale and Lester Dell.
Edward retired in 1998 as a tool and die maker following 39 years of service with U.S.G. Interiors, Westlake. A member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria and the AARP, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. Edward also liked to travel with his wife, especially to Wyoming. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians. Edward will be remembered for his perseverance in overcoming polio, cancer and a liver transplant; and for maintaining his terrific sense of humor.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in St. Jude Catholic Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria. Committal rites and burial will follow at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
