Edward W. Powers Jr.'s Obituary
Edward W. Powers Jr., age 72, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake following a brief illness.
He was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for 42 years.
Edward served in the US Army and went on to work as a Police Officer for the North Ridgeville Police Department, retiring as a Captain in 2003 after 29 years of service. He was also the chief investigator for the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office and a special deputy for the U.S. Marshal Service.
He was a member of the FOP Lodge 25 in Westlake.
Following his retirement, he became a professional grandpa, taking to and attending his grandchildren’s extracurricular activities. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, shooting sports and boating.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Shirley (nee Seitz); son, Edward III (Melissa) of North Ridgeville; daughter, Krista Powers-Williams (Jason) of Parma; grandchildren, Edward IV, Alyssa and Samantha Powers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward W. Sr. and Violet (nee Haseley) Powers.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, where services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. William Giallourakis will officiate.
Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Fields Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
