Edward P. Matuszak's Obituary
Edward P. Matuszak age 89, of Mayfield Hts. and formerly North Ridgeville, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Hts.
He was born in Cleveland and had been a long time resident of Cleveland, North Olmsted and North Ridgeville before moving to Mayfield Hts. Ed graduated from Benedictine In 1954.
He worked as a Police Officer for the city of Cleveland for over a decade, starting as a patrolman and later serving as a Robbery Detective. He left the Cleveland Police Department and joined the US Customs Service, starting as an investigator and finally becoming the Director of the Great Lakes Region before retiring in the 1990s. Throughout his career he served as one of the first US Sky Marshals, helped found (and train) the DEA and provided security for multiple US Presidents. Edward also served in the US Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Marion (nee Frantz), daughter, Deidra (Allen) Bobincheck of Beachwood, sons, Michael (Anna) Matuszak of Southington, Steven (Michelle) Matuszak of Blacksburg, Virginia, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren (and one on the way), his brother, Casey Matuszak of North Carolina, sister, Jean Rasmussen of Lakewood, and daughter-in-law, June Matuszak of Cleveland Hts.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald, his parents, Edward and Martha (nee Pietrzak) Matuszak, and sister-in-law, Doris Matuszak.
Friends and family may call Thursday from 6-8PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11 AM Friday at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Rd., North Ridgeville. Rev. Isidore Munishi will be the celebrant.
Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg, following the church service.
