Edward Crawford's Obituary
Edward C. Crawford age 81 of Sheffield Village died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born in Clay County, WV and had been a resident of Sheffield Village and Sheffield Lake for the past 35 years. He was the owner operator of Ed Crawford Trucking and had also been employed as plant manager for Baker Material & Handling in Cleveland during the 1970's. Mr. Crawford was a U.S. Navy veteran having served as a Seaman 2nd Class in the Pacific Theater during WW II, and was a member of the Sheffield Lake Amvets and a life member of the VFW. He loved hunting and socializing with friends. Survivors include daughters, Caryl (Steve) Welfle of North Ridgeville and Diane (Dana) Smith of Sheffield Lake; sons, Jerry (Angie) Crawford of Lorain, Danny Crawford of Sheffield Village and Mike Crawford of North Ridgeville; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Hazel) Crawford of Quaker City, OH and a sister, Norma (Porter) Chapman of Elkview, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Anis Crawford; brothers, Dennis and Dencil Crawford and by a sister, Rita Bee. Funeral services will be conducted at 5 P.M. Sunday, October 19, 2008 in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where friends will be received from 2 P.M. until the time of service. Rev. Jay Roller will officiate. Private interment will take place at a later date in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH. Memorial contributions are requested to the American Lung Association, 226 St. Rt 61 East, Norwalk, OH 44857 or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 424 Middle Ave., Elyria, OH 44035.
