Edna C. Barnes' Obituary
Edna C. Barnes (nee Wilhelmy), age 95, of Elyria, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Life Care Center in Elyria after a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 8, 1922 in Elyria and has been a lifelong resident of North Ridgeville. Edna was an active lifelong member of St. Peter Parish in North Ridgeville and was a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis. She worked for Precise Models, was an activity assistant for Altercare, and was very involved with volunteering at the Murray Ridge Center in Elyria.
Family was Edna’s number one priority in life. She was very involved with her children’s schooling, acting as the PTA President and a homeroom mother at St. Peter School. She enjoyed a number of different crafts, baking, gardening and spending time outside in her yard.
She is survived by her son Ken (Jan) Barnes of Elyria; daughters Marianne (Robert Hajek) Barnes of MS and Carol Barnes of Elyria; grandchildren Eric (Katherine) Hajek, Alicia Hajek and Tabbetha (Dillon) Green; great grandchildren Cameron, Brandon, Aryana, Kadyn, Trina, Jacob, Kalli, Jaeleigh, Alex and Link; sister Shirley Fayer; sister in law Olga Wilhelmy; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin in 2003; parents Edward and Gertrude (nee Riegelsberger) Wilhelmy; sisters Ruth Janis, Jane Wise and G. Faith Smith; brothers Donald and Roy Wilhelmy.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. where a prayer service will be held on Thursday at 9:30AM preceding a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Parish, N. Ridgeville. Rev. Andrew Hoover will be the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
