Earl Spangler's Obituary
Earl E. Spangler, age 72, of Elyria, died Saturday afternoon at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria , following a long illness.
He was born in Appalachia, Virginia and had lived in Elyria since 1960; having moved from Lorain.
Mr. Spangler had worked as a shipping clerk for the US Steel Corporation, Lorain for 34 years and retired in 1986. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union # 1104.
He loved his grand kids and enjoyed his antique cars and doing yard work.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Susan R. (Nee Sapp) Spangler; son, Vernon Spangler, of Walkertown, NC; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four brothers, Don, Paul, Mel, all of Lower Lake, CA and Chester, of Lake Ridge, VA; two sisters, Shirley Lively, of Melbourne, FL and Mary Ruth Hensley, of Chile, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl M. (Nee Buckles) and Charles O. Spangler; brothers, Charles and Carl; sisters, Clare Johnson, Opal Childes and Ruby Browning.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. Bill Shomo, will officiate. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 424 Middle Ave., Elyria, OH, 44035.
