Dr. Amer C. Shab's Obituary
Dr. Amer C. Shab, age 88, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Everett, Pennsylvania, grew up in Hopewell, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1972. He previously lived in Berea and Strongsville.
He enjoyed spending winters in North Fort Myers, Florida.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Dr. Shab owned and operated Crystal Springs from 1964-1996. He was the Pastor of Springs of Life Church from 1979-1996 and was also the President of Springs of Life Bible College in Parma Hts. since 1976. From 1950-1970, he was working as a barber in the National City Bank building in Cleveland.
Amer enjoyed writing books, especially “Blind But Not Lost”; working outside, teaching and reading.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Carol (nee Harshbarger); daughters, Kathy (Rev. Dr. Tom) Padley of Nova Lima, Brazil, Tammy (Richard) Kepler of Elyria; 14 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Merriam Smith of Hopewell, Pennsylvania and Leona Casteel of Hanover, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sara O. (nee Collins) Shab.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Monday at 11AM in the funeral home. Rev. Ed Padley and Dr. Thomas Padley will co-officiate.
Burial will be in Butternut Ridge in Eaton Twp.
