Dorothy D. Reed's Obituary
Dorothy D. Reed (nee Nix) age 67, of Elyria, passed away at her home peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, March 3, 2014.
She was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of Elyria for the past year, moving from Sheffield Lake where she had lived most of her life.
Dorothy worked in fine jewelry sales for over 40 years.
She was a longtime member of Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 8686 in Sheffield Lake, where she was currently the Chaplain.
Dorothy had a positive outlook on life that influenced those around her.
She enjoyed reading, spending time with family and friends and playing Cardo at the VFW.
Survivors include her daughters, Lucy (Tom) Ewing of Wooster, Brenda (Cisco) Slepko of Elyria; son, Frank (Becky) Reed of Spencer; grandchildren; Alexis, Zachary, Katrina, Erica, Josh, Tristan and Delaney; 5 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren;
sisters, Bobbie (Edward ) Shelton of Middleburg Hts., Doris (Richard) Weis of Brunswick; sister-in-law, Sue Wohlford of Wooster; brother-in-law, Alec (Linda) Reed of Texas; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, David L. Reed in 2007; parents, Ernest and Pearl Nix; sisters, Sarah Reeder, Clarice Viles, Mary Klein; brother-in-law, Gunner Wohlford.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Rev. Kevin Phipps will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
