Dorothy Kulcsar's Obituary
Dorothy Kulcsar (nee Balcik), age 96, of Avon, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake.
She was born in Briar Hill, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Avon for the past 3 years, moving from Lorain where she spent most of her life.
Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper and a clerk for Gray Drug Store for 20 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a founding member of St. Vincent De Paul where she was involved with the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union.
She enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians as well as Cleveland and Pittsburgh football. She also enjoyed casinos and birdwatching. She loved to bake Hungarian bakery and was famous for her coconut cream and banana cream pies.
Survivors include her son, Edward Kulcsar Jr. of Shelby, daughters, Linda (David) Kolena of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Evelyn Pajak of North Ridgeville, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several caring nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Edward, siblings, Frank, Vera Reber, Michael, Steven, Mary O’Neill, Andy, Margie, Elizabeth and John, son-in-law, Larry Pajak, daughter-in-law Cathy Kulcsar, parents, Michael and Veronica Balcik.
Friends may call Monday from 10AM until the time of Funeral Mass at 11AM at St. Vincent DePaul, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria. Fr. Neil Walters, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
The family requests that you please wear purple as it was Dorothy’s favorite color.
