Dorothy Kelley's Obituary
Dorothy Mae Kelley (nee Smith), age 85, of Elyria died Sunday at EMH Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
She was born in Fields Corners, what is now North Ridgeville, on May 9, 1918. She was a resident of North Ridgeville her whole life until moving to Elyria in 1998.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the former Catholic Sunshine Club. She was a member of the Eaton Grange where she was a Past Master, she also served as Secretary for the Lorain County Grange for 35 years. She was active with the North Ridgeville Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed bowling in the Grange Bowling League, spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards with family and friends.
She is survived by her two sons, Dennis of Kansas, Ohio and Timothy of Vermilion, 7 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, two brothers, Amil Smith of Elyria, Willard Smith of Spencer, four sisters, Virginia Smith of Valley City, Myrtle Schuehrer of Drumond Island, MI, Betty Schneider of Valley City and Grace Hammond of Medina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene in 2003, one son, Rolland in 1940, her parents, Emil and Cassie (nee Worcester) Smith, six brothers, Ray, Roy, Leon, Dwight, Wilbur and Robert Smith, and two sisters, Frances Brooks and Faith Kidney.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:30 am on Thursday. Mass will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Reverend Stephen Kaminski, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
