Donna Fischer's Obituary
Donna K. Fischer (nee Walsh), age 75, of North Ridgeville passed away suddenly Saturday January 30, 2010 at EMH Regional Medical Center after being stricken at home.
She was born in Cleveland, and had resided in North Ridgeville for over 50 years after moving from Lakewood.
A graduate of St. John Hospital School of Nursing in 1955.
Mrs. Fischer was a home maker, although prior to having children, she was one of the first Registered Nurses to work in Open Heart Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and later at Lakewood Hospital.
She was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church, N. Ridgeville, where she had been a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was currently very active with the Vincentians, formerly known as the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Peter and the Lorain County District.
Mrs. Fischer enjoyed playing bridge with the Women's Duplicate Bridge Club. She also was a passionate reader, enjoyed cross word puzzles, cross stitching, and going on cruises with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James R. five daughters, Kathleen (Alan) Pollock of Lorain, Judy Ann Fischer of Vermilion, MaryEllen "Tina" (Greg) Flock of Amherst, Patricia Dunlap of Avon, and Laura (David) Preston of LaGrange, four grandsons, Nicholas J. and Alexander D. Flock, Harold R. Dunlap and Robert D. Preston, and her sister Erma "Sis" (Richard) Donahue of Penfield Township.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Edward and Irma Walsh.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Wednesday followed by 10 AM Mass at St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The Vencentians will lead a rosary service at the funeral home starting at 6:30 PM Tuesday.
