Donald A. "Tex" Robertson's Obituary
Donald A. “Tex” Robertson, age 80, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake following a brief illness.
He was born in Iaegar, West Virginia and grew up in Bedford, graduating from Bedford High School Class of 1956. He had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1963, after moving from Cleveland.
He served in the US Army Reserves from 1956-1962.
Tex worked in machine repair for General Motors at the Parma Chevy Plant retiring in 1986 after 30 years.
He was a member of Fields United Methodist Church, where he was involved with the Young at Heart and volunteered in the kitchen cooking for the church dinners.
He was a life member of VFW Post 9871 Auxiliary and Am Vets Post 32. He was also a member of North Ridgeville Historical Society, Loyal Order of the Moose in Elyria and was an active member of the North Ridgeville Fishing Club, where he helped children to learn to fish.
In addition to Fishing he enjoyed making homemade wine, cooking and was an avid bowler in several leagues at Brunswick and Buckeye Lanes. He was an instructor for children at Buckeye Lanes in North Olmsted.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary (nee Satterfield); daughter, Donna Torres of Azalea, Oregon; son, Danny (Kathy) Robertson of Woodville, Alabama; grandchildren, Melissa (Brannon Kimmich) Osbourne, Travis (Trish) Osbourne and Austin Osbourne; great-grandchildren, Seth and Elijah Osbourne; step-grandson, Nelson Tidwell; step-great-grandson, Nick Tidwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Bethel “Betty” (nee Roberts) Robertson and step-grandson, David Tidwell.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-7 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville and from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM Friday at Fields United Methodist Church, N. Ridgeville. Rev. Dr. Tom Joyce, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Fields Cemetery, with military honors conducted by VFW Post 9871.
