Donald J. Lowe's Obituary
Donald J. Lowe, age 87, of Avon, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 21, 1932 in Alliance, Ohio and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He has lived in Avon for the past year, moving from Olmsted Township and Fort Meyers, but spent most of his life in Sheffield Lake. Donald worked as a stereotype printer for the Cleveland Press and Cleveland Plain Dealer for 28 years, retiring in 1978. Following his retirement, he owned and operated Donald J. Lowe and Associates, beginning in 1984 to present. Donald was very active in running the pension and welfare fund for the Stereotypers’ and ElectroTypers’ Union Local 22 in Cleveland, where he had acted as the Secretary Treasurer. In his free time, Donald enjoyed golfing on his Fort Meyers league. He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Ullrich); daughters Christina Christensen of Olmsted Falls, Jacqueline McCallie of Avon and Maryann (Scott) Ormsby of Avon; son Daniel Lowe of Vero Beach, Fl; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers Bruce Lowe of North Ridgeville and Jimmy (Jan) Lowe of North Olmsted; sister Alice Curran of Key West, Fl. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Arthur C. and Cleo M. (nee Coons) Lowe; brothers Owen and Art Lowe. Funeral Services Sunday, September 29 at 4:00 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville where family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Rev. Thomas Cleaton will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities, 721 N. LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654.
