Donald Harris' Obituary
Donald R. Harris, 81, of Elyria died on Saturday morning, June 17, 2006, at his home following a short illness.
He was born in Springfield, OH and had lived in Elyria the past 60 years.
Mr. Harris served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 12, Elyria.
He worked as a supervisor for the US Steel Company, Lorain from 1949 until he retired in 1984.
Following his retirement he returned to US Steel, Lorain for another 10 years as a consultant.
Donald enjoyed repairing watches and clocks. He also was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gladys O. (nee Schuster) Harris; daughters, Nancy (John) Warzecha, of Elyria, Terri (Jim) Mattey, also of Elyria and Kristen (Christopher) Rivera, of Lorain; son, Donald R. (Kathie) Harris, of Ashland; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Norma L. Woody, of Silver Springs, MD.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Bodey in 2004; his parents, Harold R. and Mabel (nee Wagner) Harris and brother, Harold Harris.The family will receive friends at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville on Tuesday from 1:30 PM until the time of the service at 2:30 PM. Grandson, Dale R. Harris will officiate the service. Interment to follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Life Hospice, 5255 Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
