Donald DeVries' Obituary
Donald H. DeVries, age 72, of Olmsted Falls, passed away Sunday May 22, 2011 at Southwest General Hospital, following a short illness. He was born in Cleveland and had resided in Olmsted Falls the past 30 years after moving from Fairview Park.
He proudly served in the US Navy Veteran and Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes. He was a Member of American Legion Post 403 in Olmsted Falls.
Mr. DeVries was an Electrical Engineer for Byers Engineering in Cleveland for 29 years until in 2001. He then continued doing consulting work.
He enjoyed making scale models of ships, studying naval and political history and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years Patricia (nee Danley), daughter Wendy DeVries-Paulot of Canton, MI, son Martin (Stephanie) DeVries of North Ridgeville, stepdaughters Maggie (Bob) Demmick of Melbourne, Florida, and Deborah (Mark) Knecht of Lakewood, grandfather of 10, brother Richard DeVries of Lawrenceville, GA and Sharon (Joseph) Formick of Eastlake, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Dorothy DeVries.
Family and Friends will be bidding Don Anchors Aweigh on Wednesday May 25 from 2pm until time of services at 3pm at David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd. N. Ridgeville. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, www.dav.org
