Doanld Nielsen's Obituary
Donald Lee Nielsen, age 66 of Carlisle Township, died Wednesday in Millersburg following a sudden illness.
He was born in Lakewood and grew up in North Olmsted. He had resided in Carlisle Township the past 17 years moving from Valley City. He had previously lived in Columbia Station for many years.
Mr. Nielsen was the owner and operator of Don Nielsen Greenhouse since 1975.
He served in the US Army Infantry from 1956 thru 1958.
Mr. Nielsen was a member of Olmsted Community Church, the VFW Valley City Post, and was a past President and current Secretary-Treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Columbia Station.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching gardening and landscaping. He also was a Past Scout Master for Berea, Belden and Columbia Station Boy Scout troops in the 1960's and -1970's.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn (nee Gross); daughter, Denise M.. James of Webberville, Michigan; 3 sons, William C. of Oceanside, California, James L. Of Brunswick, Jeffrey A. of Lakewood; 8 grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth of Olmsted Falls, Glenn of Berea, Leonard of Elyria and sister Judy Ginoza of Kihea, Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jens Christian and Ethel (nee Offenberg) Nielsen; brother, Allen Nielsen and his sister, Diane Bullion.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00AM in the funeral home. Rev. Don Wilson of Olmsted Community Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township.
