Denvil Looney's Obituary
Denvil Looney, age 84, of Elyria went home to be with the Lord Friday February 19, 2010 at the Wesleyan Village, Elyria following a brief illness.
He was born in Hellard, KY and resided in Elyria most of his life.
A decorated US Navy Veteran, he served as a Seabee during WW II, participating in the European Theater, Normandy Invasion, and Battle of the Bulge. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He worked as a Tool and Die Maker for LTV Steel until retiring in 1991.
Mr. Looney attended Calvary Apostolic Church, Sheffield Village.
A "Jack of all trades", he enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, fishing and was an amateur gunsmith.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy (nee Burkett), sons, Robert of Elyria, Larry (Kris) Looney of Grafton, two grandchildren, two brothers, Noah "Gene" Looney of North Port, Florida, and Carl Looney of Winter Springs, Florida, one sister, Georgieanna Perry of Conway, SC and his beloved terrier, Josie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Caroline Looney, brothers, Corbet, Raymond, Langley and Morrow Looney, sisters, Josephine Crisp, Draxie Looney and Vera Rose.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Funeral services will take place 10:30 AM Monday in the funeral home. Reverend Alan Westmoreland, Pastor of Calvary Apostolic Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
