Denvil Brown's Obituary
Denvil Brown, 81 of Elyria died Friday February 1, 2008 at Metro Health Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born in Nallen, WV and graduated from Clay County High School, WV in 1944. He moved to Lorain County with his wife in 1951.
Mr. Brown served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater where he earned a Good Conduct Medal. He retired from Ford Motor Co., Brook Park after thirty-one years of service as an electrician. He was an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church and was involved in prison ministries for over thirty years. He most recently attended New Life Baptist Church, Elyria. His hobbies included Bible study, writing poetry and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Nina (nee Sams); three daughters, Dicena Brown of Elyria, Janice Cahill (husband Gary) of Elyria, and Rebekah Velthuis (husband Stephen) of Mercersburg, PA; six grandchildren, Geri Miller (husband William), Gary Cahill, and Stephen, Robert, Samuel, and Bethany Velthuis; great-grandson, William Miller and seven siblings, Audrey Hopkins, of Ovapa, WV, Sis Samples, of Ovapa, WV, Otto Brown, of Fola, WV, Myrtle Belle Arbogast of Elkview, WV, Ronald Brown, of Eleanore, WV, Arlene Jett, of Little Hocking, OH and Sylvia Summers of Ovapa, WV.
He was proceded in death by his parents, Early and Dicey Brown (nee Parks) and four siblings, Glenvil Brown, Arbutus Brady and Stanley and William Brown.
Visitation will be from 5-8PM Monday at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where services will be held at 11AM Tuesday. Denvil's son-in-law, Pastor Stephen Velthuis, will be the officiant. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
