Denver L. Smith Jr.'s Obituary
Denver L. Smith Jr., age 93, of Louisville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.
He was born in Tyrone, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past two years, moving from Louisville, Ohio.
Denver served in the US Navy during WWII as a radio operator.
He worked as a teacher and coach for Louisville City Schools and retired in 1980 after 30 years.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Louisville and enjoyed competing in track and field. He participated in decathlon events until the age of 89.
Survivors include his daughter, Anna Kanis of North Ridgeville; grandchildren, Greg (Amanda) Kanis and Christine Kanis; great-grandson, Hudson Denver Kanis; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Smith (nee White); brother, Wayne; sisters, Lorma Anderson, Louise Bonsell, Grace Myers; parents, Denver L. and Bessie (nee Miller) Smith.
Private services will be held at a later date.
