David W. Painter's Obituary
David W. Painter, age 69, of Elyria, passed away on June 18, 2015 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born on September 26, 1945 in Lorain, and has been a resident of Elyria for the past 48 years. David was a U.S. Navy Veteran from 1964-1968 serving on the Destroyer U.S.S. Lowry, and was stationed in Great Lakes, IL, Norfolk, VA and Africa.
He worked as an assembly line worker at the Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1997.
David was the “Mr. Fix It” of his neighborhood and was always there to help his neighbors with lawn and snow care. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his 1940 Chevy which was passed on to him from his father, collecting hub caps, old license plates, hot wheels and baseball cards. Going to swap meets, garage sales and car shows with his wife Carol were also some of his favorite activities.
David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol; daughter Kimberly (Mark) Hayden of Elyria; son David Painter of Elyria; sisters Jane Painter and Nancy Findlay, both of North Ridgeville; many nieces and nephews; “granddog” Aries.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elroy H. and Jeanette R. (nee King) Painter; brother Jim Painter.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Monday from 6-8 p.m. Private interment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
