David Dewitt Atkins Sr's Obituary
David Dewitt Atkins Sr., age 82, of North Ridgeville, passed away November 14, 2023. He was born in Amherstdale, WV and lived in North Ridgeville for the past 23 years. He worked on the assembly line and then as an inspector for General Motors for 32 years before retiring in 2000. Dave was a member of Fields United Methodist Church and was a Master of Quarry Lodge 382 Masonic Lodge in Berea, OH. He enjoyed working in the yard and decorating his home for the Holidays. He loved rooting for the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs, Browns, Cavs, Indians and the Buckeyes. Dave had a passion for US History, primarily the Civil War, and visited many of the battlefields. He was especially devoted to his family and grandchildren. Dave is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary; children David Jr. (Lisa) of Bloomington, MN, Frank (Sara) of North Royalton, Ken (Amy) of Elizabethtown, PA, Tracy (Jay) Shiltz of Olmsted Falls; 12 grandchildren; sisters-in-law Betty Atkins and Darlene Adkins; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ruby Atkins; siblings Donald (Joyce) Atkins, Jack (Frances) Atkins, Jonnie Atkins, Charles “Bob” (Sharlene) Adkins and Judy Booth. A Celebration of Life will be held at Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville, OH 44039 on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Fields United Methodist Church, Missions Fund.
