I first met Claudia when I was a new grad RN. When I floated to her ICU unit, I always knew I could go to her with any questions I had. She was always so helpful and easy to approach with her kind eyes and warm smile. After quite a few years taking different paths, I ran into her and her wonderful husband, Spence. She told me she had her own Practice in counseling and I asked her for a card just in case I or someone I knew would need one. It wasn’t too shortly after that when my life took some unexpected twist and turns when I reached out to her. Over the next 15 years, we would occasionally meet discussing life, challenges, and dreams. It was in the midst of many challenges she became my Northstar. I could always depend on her to help guide me and navigate through the storms of life.
It was with great courage she shared with me her diagnosis and her great hope of continuing to live this life for her beautiful family. She felt so blessed to have had such a beautiful marriage with Spence. She was so very proud of her three beautiful children, and her three precious grandchildren which she adored. Claudia continued to remain positive as she heroically navigated this disease till the very end.
As I look over our last 40 years together, she started as my mentor, continued as my counselor, and in the end became my beautiful friend whose friendship will be forever cherished. Her soulful eyes and warm smile will remain embedded in our hearts and I know her beautiful spirit will continue to guide us all throughout our time on this Earth. God bless her.
