Clair H. "Red" Warner's Obituary
Clair H. “Red” Warner, age 92, of LaGrange, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Elms Retirement Village in Wellington after a brief illness.
He was born on January 18, 1924 in Lorain and has lived in Wellington for the past 14 years, moving from LaGrange and North Ridgeville, where he had lived for 45 years.
Red was a World War II veteran, serving in the Merchant Marines, a Life Member of V.F.W. Post 4155 in LaGrange, a former member of 1st Congregational U.C.C. in North Ridgeville and was the co-owner of Warner Floor Covering, which had locations in North Ridgeville, Grafton and Avon, retiring in 1998 after 52 years in the business.
He raced stock cars in the 1950’s, was voted Man of the Year by the North Ridgeville Chamber of Commerce in the 1960’s and was a Boy Scout Leader for 13 years. He also enjoyed traveling and watching NASCAR, but nothing made him happier than spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Red is survived by his 4 sons Glenn Warner of Wellington, Cliff “Kip” (Bonnie) Warner of Elyria, Dennis (Sherri) Warner of LaGrange and John (Casey) Ball of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Naomi in 2011; parents Glenn and Emma (nee Waltz) Warner; brother Roger Warner.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville on Monday from 4-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Rev. Danny Parsons will officiate. Interment will be in Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon.
