Charles Edward "Chuck" Shemenske's Obituary
Charles Edward “Chuck” Shemenske, age 82, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at O’Neill Health Care in North Ridgeville after a lengthy illness. He was born on October 18, 1936 in Cleveland and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 13 years. Chuck earned his Bachelor of Engineering from Valparaiso University, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He went on to work in various management areas for East Ohio Gas, retiring in 1995 after 37 years of service. He served as the past president of the Kiwanis and Jaycees in Youngstown. His job required many moves over the years, and Chuck was an active member in the many churches he attended. In his free time, he enjoyed working crossword puzzles, golfing, doing carpentry and home improvements. The summer months would find Chuck tending to his yard and garden.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty (nee Deckert); son Rob (Kim) Shemenske of Grove City; daughters Robin (Jerry) Helscel of Canfield and Karen Pawlicki of North Ridgeville; grandchildren Jennifer and Jeremy Helscel, Nicholas Shemenske, Michael and Caroline Pawlicki, Joshua, Brandon and Nathan Boltenhouse; brother-in-law Richard (Karen) Finlin; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Daisy.
Chuck was preceded in death by his granddaughter Amanda Helscel; son-in-law Christopher Pawlicki; parents Fred and Clara (nee Schmidt) Shemenske; sister Carol Ann Finlin.
Memorial Service Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, where family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Dalton Love will officiate.
