Charles T. Netkowicz's Obituary
Charles T. Netkowicz, age 76, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at St. John Medical Center in Westlake.
He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 6 years, moving from Elyria were he lived since 1974.
Charles served in the US Navy on the USS Forrestal.
He worked as an engineer for USG Interiors (formerly Don Products) in Westlake for 15 years before retiring as plant manager in 1994. He also worked as a plant manager at York International and Lear Romec in Elyria.
He was a 21 year survivor of a heart transplant. He was a member of TRIO- Transplant Recipient International Organization where he did presentations on the importance of organ donation.
He was a member of St. Jude’s Church in Elyria; American Legion Post 12, Elyria and was a former member of the Rotary Club in Elyria. He was very active in cowboy action shooting and was known as “Major New Heart”. He continued to be active in IDPA- International Defense Pistol Association and enjoyed shooting with his friends.
“Papa” Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carolyn (nee Lohse); daughters, Deborah Kuvila of Mentor, Hollis (Kevin) Berthold of Grafton Twp., Aryn (Ryan) Veverka of Olmsted Twp.; sons, Glenn Netkowicz of Sheffield Village, Todd (Cynthia) Netkowicz of Avon; 12 grandchildren; brothers William (Donna) Netkowicz and James Netkowicz both of Erie, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his brother Robert and parents, Charles and Antoinette (nee Suchmanski) Netkowicz.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Services will be held Thursday at 10AM in the funeral home. Rev. Greg Schaut will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct Military Honors.
