Charles Mills' Obituary
Charles J. "Chuck" Mills, age 78, of Avon Lake, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011 at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, following a long illness.
He was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of Avon Lake for the past 49 years.
Charles was a paratrooper and a tank driver in the US Army from 1953-1955.
He worked at seven different plants for General Motors from 1952-1971. He then went on to work at Allen Memorial Hospital for the next 25 years. His first job there was as a storeroom clerk. He worked his way up to Director of Purchasing.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Avon Lake, American Legion Post 0211, Allen Memorial Hospital Golf League and a life member of the Knights of Columbus.
"Chuck" enjoyed boating, fishing and golfing.
Survivors include his nieces, Michelle "Shelly" Coon of North Ridgeville, Gail Shank of North Royalton, Monica Padley of Olmsted Twp., Fay Boyer of Brooklyn, Sue Costanzo of Parma, Sandy Mills of Parma; nephews, Mark Schlenkerman of Westlake, Tommy Schlenkerman of Parma, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Mills; brother, Donald; sisters, Mary Jane Schlenkerman, Ann Marie Kudravy; nephews, Kenneth Kudravy and Daniel Schlenkerman.
