Charles "Chuck" E. Radune's Obituary
Charles “Chuck” Embry Radune, age 76, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at his home following a long battle with Parkinsons. He was born in New Britian, CT and had been a resident of North Ridgeville for most of his life. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Sandusky and the Ohio Military Reserve. He graduated from Westlake High School in 1964 and went on to Bowling Green State University to earn his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1968. He was a member of the swim team and performed in many plays on campus. Chuck was also a member of the Phi Kapa Psi Fraternity. Several years later he would go on to earn his Master’s in education from Cleveland State University in December 2006. Chuck had many jobs throughout his life. His last job and the most fulfilling was being a teacher for the Grafton Reintegration Center. He taught prison inmates to get their GED and hopefully make a better life for themselves. In his spare time Chuck loved to play his guitars, listen to friends, talk music, especially Gordon Lightfoot who he actually got to meet. Chuck love music and taught himself to play French horn. He spent several years in the Vermillion Community Band and the Patriots Symphonic Band. While in the Patriot band Chuck had the privilege to play at Severance Hall in Cleveland. He retired in 2016 as a Lieutenant Col in the Ohio Military Reserve SDF. He had many positions in the OHMR. He was a Military Police officer, Personnel Officer and a Medical Officer. Chuck is survived by his wife, Polly Claubaugh Radune whom he married Sept 24, 2016. Chuck and Polly met in the Ohio Military Reserves. He leaves behind his son Charles J. “CJ” (Zita) Radune of North Ridgeville and daughter, Jackie (Tim) Gifford of Cape Coral FL; stepdaughters, Melissa (Matt) Harder-Shivley of Leipsic, Kirstyn (Ryan) Murphy of West Linn, Oregon, brother, William F. Radune Jr. (Karen Merkle) of N. Olmsted and sister, Patty (Dennis) Guerra of Sandusky; 7 grandchildren, Drew, Alexis, Trent, Embry, Madison, Mason and Mitchell; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and several furry friends. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 am until the time of service at 12 pm at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd, North Ridgeville. Burial will follow at Ridgeville Cemetery with full military honors. Pastor Allan Jenkins will officiate.
