Charles "Chuck" Bowman's Obituary
Charles E. "Chuck" Bowman, age 80, of North Ridgeville passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Saturday. Born in Cleveland, he had resided in North Ridgeville the past 39 years after moving from Pittsburgh.
He served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS C. K. Bronson.
Chuck was a Dealer Sales Representative for BP, formerly Standard Oil Company for over 40 years retiring in 1993.
He enjoyed square dancing with his wife Nancy, reading, golfing and was an avid tennis player.
A member of Fields United Methodist Church, he served as chief usher for 25 years. He formerly served as trustee of Ridgefield Homeowners Association and continued to volunteer at the Recreation Center.
A Rotarian, he served as Secretary of the North Ridgeville Rotary Club for many years.
Chuck was awarded the Golden Kernel Award by the North Ridgeville Corn Festival Committee in 2010.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Nancy A. (nee Saumers), three sons, Tom (Linda) of Columbia, Maryland, Jim (Nancy) of Loveland, OH, Matt (Claudia) Bowman of El Paso, TX, daughter, Beth (Dan) Renner of Loveland, OH, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Bowman.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd. N. Ridgeville. Services will be held 10 AM Wednesday at Fields United Methodist Church 34077 Lorain Rd. N. Ridgeville Ohio 44039. Rev. Dr. Thomas Joyce, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Fields Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Fields United Methodist Church or N. Ridgeville Community Care 34015 Center Ridge Rd. N. Ridgeville, Oh 44039.
